Good morning band family! Congrats again on officially closing the book on the 2023 marching season! What a great time it was… this band grew so much, and I’m proud of each and every one of you. I’m excited for the future of this program, and that starts now as we officially begin concert season! Winter concert prep is up first!
This week, after school rehearsals will resume. Unlike marching season, NOT every student will be rehearsing every Tuesday and Thursday. You will be reporting to after school rehearsals based on with ensemble you play in. Please read below! - Tuesday - jazz band will rehearse 2-4pm. Jazz will rehearse every Tuesday in November (minus thanksgiving break) and December up to the concert on the 14th. Jazz will continue on Tuesdays in January, but not February. - THIS WEDNESDAY, symphonic band will rehearse from 2-4pm. This is 3rd period students, with a combination of 5th period wind ensemble students who chose to also play in symphonic band. Normally these rehearsals will be on Thursdays 2-4pm, however the schedule is altered this week only. - Wind ensmeble students will not have after school rehearsals except on December 12th and 13th. Wind ensemble will begin regular after school rehearsals in January and February. - Color guard will practice after school on Thursdays from 2-4pm for the winter concert, the color guard after school practice schedule will change as we get closer to winter guard season. - We have a band family meeting THIS TUESDAY from 6-7pm. I am encouraging all parents and students that are interested in hearing about/going on the band trip in May. At this meeting we will be discussing details regarding this trip (cost/location/etc). We will also be going over details regarding our largest band fundraiser, the Gift Wrap Booth! I hope to see many of you there! we will need lots and lots of parental help for the gift wrap booth, so if you have not applied to be a volunteer in SLC, please consider applying so you can also help us out and get in on the holiday fun! - I will be out of school on Friday, and the last period of the day on Thursday. - Some performances we have coming up are the Festival of Lights Holiday parade on December 2nd, and our winter concert on December 14th. Please reach out with any questions and have a great Sunday! |
