Wow, we can't believe there is only two more weeks until winter break! This semester has flown by so quickly, and we have already accomplished so much! Great job at the parade this past Saturday, I heard nothing but positive comments from several people! Now, as we look towards our next event, the winter concert, let's be prepared to work hard and finish strong!
- This week we will be having full concert band rehearsals after school on Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. These are mandatory rehearsals for all wind and percussion students. -We will be having a Pit orchestra rehearsal from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday evening. -Scale passoff #2 is due by Tuesday, December 6th at the end of the night. Please play for Mr. Wiley in person, OR via email. The scales are as follows: Freshman: Ab Major with arpeggio. Upperclassmen: C major, and Db major, with arpeggios. Remember, scale pass offs are for a test grade. - If you have not brought me your solo and ensemble music titles and composers, please do so ASAP. -Please remember to sign up for the Gift Wrap Booth! It looks fantastic and businness is already starting to pick up! Encourage your parents to apply to be approved volunteers in St. Lucie County! The more parents the more opportunities our band will have to thrive and provide you with the high schoo band experience possible! -The Winter Concert is December 15th at 7:00pm! Admssion is donation based, so please invite anyone you can think of to attend! We will be having a bake sale, as well as be selling Port St. Lucie HS band water bottles for a cheap price! Go Jags! This Saturday, December 3rd, we will be having our anual "Festival of Lights" Parade at the Port Saint Lucie Civic Center! This is a great opportunity for our band to get out in the community and spread some holiday pride! The parade steps off at 6:00pm, and following will be our procedure for the evening.
Prior to the parade: We will be MEETING at the civic center on Saturday, at 4:30 PM. -Prior to leaving school on Friday, December 2nd, students need to bring home their marching band uniform and marching hat. -Santa hats/holiday hats are acceptable. If you aren't wearing a holiday hat, you must wear your marching band hat. -If you have a large instrument (Tuba, baritone, trombone, tenor sax, mellophone, percussion), you can leave your instrument at school and it will be transported to the civic center on Saturday. -If you play a smaller instrument, please take your instrument home with you and bring it to the civic center. There will be a designated area for case. -Color guard members should bring their indivudal flags/rifles/candy canes home with them on Friday. If you can not bring it home, please leave it in a designated area to be transported. - We will be meeting at 4:30, in the farther front parking lot of the Civic Center (closer to US1, and West of the parking garage) -Please show up in uniform with your instrument and music.
