Hello band family, Happy Sunday! I hope you have all been having a restful weekend! I wanted to say thanks again to all the band parents who helped us out at Friday’s rehearsal! This activity has so many moving parts, so the help is vital and definitely appreciated!
Also, band, we are getting work done! This is the longest opener our band has ever performed (for reference, fallen silent, our second longest opener, was 94 measures, and 16 sets of drill. This one is 24 sets, and 120 measures.), and we are on track to have this show done by September 24th if all goes according to plan! let’s keep going and, if we do superior work, we WILL BE a superior band. We have a lighter week this week, here’s what to expect. - Since I forgot to ask for the fundraiser collection on Friday, final envelops and payments will be due on Monday! Please bring them by the band room either before school, during class, lunch, or after school! - We will have normally scheduled marching rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-5pm. Please remember to communicate if you would like to have an excused absence. Any student that misses with no communication will be marked as an unexcused absence. We are a team with NO second string. We need to be there for each other unless you are excused! Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. - Wednesday is an early release day! There will be no pep rally at village green elementary, we will plan this for a later date that works best for both schools, There is a chance that I will be absent from school this day. If so, I will let you know and plans will be given to leadership members for classes. - There is no game or rehearsal this Friday! Enjoy your Friday night. - If we lose much more rehearsal time to lightning or weather delays, a continuity rehearsal will be added on September 9th, from 6-9pm. A decision will be made by this Friday, depending on how this week goes. This will give students and parents 1 full week to plan to attend rehearsal. - A vast majority of the band has completed pass off #1! Thank you all for your care and attention to this matter. If you have not passed off, get this done ASAP! Pass if 2 will be on September 9th. Measures 76-177. - If you still need to play band fees, you can now do this by debit or credit card at the following link! Due to a lack of funding from the state, band fees help us operate as we should to have a successful year. Fees can also be paid by cash or check made out to pslhs band. Here is the link! https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/Band-Fee-20222023/Sbe6fu8 - Ms. Telese has notified teachers that some students are planning an intentional dress code violation tomorrow. She has informed us that students who participate and intentionally come out of dress code will lose after school privileges for a while. Please do NOT participate. This will negatively effect you and the band tremendously if you cannot attend rehearsals or games. - Thanks to everyone for all their efforts! If there is anything I can do to assist you, please feel free to reach out via email: [email protected].

Happy Sunday band family! I hope you have a had a restful weekend so far, and will continue to do so today. Thanks again to all for an awesome first football game an performance on Friday! The energy was great, and the performance was a good starting point! I can’t wait to see how we continue to get better as the season progresses! Here is the news for this week!
- There will be normally scheduled marching rehearsals this Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-5:00pm. Let’s keep up the great attendance and remember to bring your water bottles! We get so much more accomplished when we’re all present with the right mind set. - We will also be having our first Friday night “continuity rehearsal” this Friday. It will be from 6-9pm in the stadium. This will also be section color wars day! This is a required rehearsal, and usually is the most productive of the year! - Band polos are in! Parents if you purchased an extra polo for $15, I have them and your student can pick them up. However, the only sizes currently in stock are large - 4x. There was a shortened amount of small and medium sized sent, but we have more coming in. - If you haven’t been sized for marching shoes, we will finish that up this week. - 3rd period, remember, we have the BB scale playing quiz tomorrow in class. - Our band fundraiser for the discount cards is still going on! I will be making a detailed post tomorrow for this, in case the info never got to you. I also wrote about it in last week’s news! - Always remember, check the band calendar on this website to stay up to date with rehearsals and events! - Keep up the awesome work, and remember, individual practice is going to be the difference maker in how well we pull this show off!! It’s going to be awesome, I know it. Good morning! As mentioned in the weekly news, this Friday is our first home football game/performance of the season! All students will receive a performance grade by coming to the football game, and if they miss unexcused, they will receive a zero. Students may stay after school until the game on Friday if they choose.
- Call time will be 5:00pm and students will wear the new band polo (given this week) and black shorts/pants! These pants should have belt loops so we can tuck the polos in! Guard will wear black leggings. - We are looking for at least 8 parent volunteers to help with chaperoning the game! Chaperone call time will also be 5pm to receive your volunteer badge and begin prepping for the game! If you’d like to chaperone the game, but can’t make it at 5, that’s okay, just please indicate on the form so we can plan accordingly! All parents chaperoning must have a volunteer application submitted with the county: if you haven’t done this yet, you still can and we can get you approved in time! Parents, please fill out the form below if you can volunteer! https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=T03JsunXB0ejlSFUSSO_MOHRcQJb_FdClzaLVjRLvIhUREpZQU9SWFdYVFpGUzFYM08wNDlKT0RCTi4u Below you will find the detailed schedule for the evening: 5:00pm - call time for students and chaperones. 5:20pm - section warm up in areas/inspection (where section leaders check to make sure students have what the need for the game) 5:50pm - full band warm up in band room 6:25pm - line up 6:35pm - March over to stadium 6:55pm - national anthem 7:00pm - kick off!! 8:15pm (approx) - half time performance!! 9:30pm (approx) - game ends/March back to band room 9:45pm (approx) - dismissal reach out with any questions! I will be sending these out every Sunday evening to share all of the things band students and parents should expect this week! Make sure to read carefully so you can be as prepared as possible!
- First of all, thanks to all the students who came to DCI finals night! It was a blast and super inspiring! - This week we will have marching rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-5pm! Students, please remember these rehearsals are graded. Also, please remember to bring your water bottles and dress for the heat! - Our first home football game is this Friday august 19th!! Tomorrow morning, I will be sending out a full detailed itinerary about the football game, but as of now students should know that call time for home football games will be 5pm in the band room, and usually run til about 9:45pm. Students can stay after school through the game if they have trouble finding a ride home and back! Much more detailed info to come tomorrow! -Also, on Friday, pass off #1 will be due! Please find some time to complete this pass off with a section leader, exec leader, or Mr. Wiley. Many are already so close to having it memorized! - The band is participating in our first fundraiser of the year this week and next week! Band students are selling $20 discount cards that include awesome deals at MANY businesses in the area! The best part about these cards is they are REUSABLE every day for the entire year: only a select few are one time use! Students, please see me if you need more cards, letters, or envelopes! Not only is it a great deal for you, but it is a great deal for he band and students! Of every $20 earned, the band received $10, and the student selling receives half of that into their individual band accounts! Look out for a detailed post explaining what the student accounts are, and how they can be used to help your student very soon! - We will be fitting for new marching shoes to those who need them this week in classes! - I can’t wait to continue the journey of making progress with you all! Let’s have a wonderful week, and if you have any questions, please reach out to me via email at [email protected]! |
