Thank you to all who auditioned! You all did a fantastic job! We tried to accommodate everyone the best we could, but had to make necessary adjustments based on the instrumentation of the orchestra! Good morning, band! I want to start off by saying "good luck" to the freshman and sophomores who will be taking FSA tests this week! Just remember to breathe and you'll all do fine! A little over 2 weeks until our "Spectrum" Concert! So be prepared and excited to get things ready!
- Symphonic band will rehearse this Tuesday until 4pm. -Jazz band will rehearse this Thursday until 4pm. -Color guard will practice on Tuesday and Thursday until 4:15pm. -Please remember to be keeping up with your Busch Gardens trip payments! If you are not paid in full by Wednesday, May 10th, you will not be going on the trip! Please see Mr. Wiley if you have any questions/concerns -Percussion will be rehearsing on Wednesday from 2-3:30pm. -Pit orchestra Auditions for "The King and I" will be THIS Wednesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm. If you plan on auditioning, please be here during this allotted time. The audition will consist of a short lyrical piece, a short technical piece, your full range chromatic scale, and sight reading. Come on out and audition! Pit orchestra is a lot of fun and a great experience! -There are still some small groups for spectrum that need to be heard. Please make that happen as soon as possible! -Meal Voucher Payment's for the trip are being accepted. This will cost $35 and is NOT included in your trip fees. This voucher will allow you to eat unlimited at select restaurants at Busch Gardens throughout the day. -Band Banquet RSVPs and payments are due by May 5th. Please return your envelope to the invitation chest in Mr. Wiley's office! -Band Trip permission forms are due by May 5th. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. -Busch Garden's Trip Payment #3 is due today. Please make sure you're keeping up with your trip balance. Check with Mr. Wiley if you are unsure of what you owe. -There is a percussion rehearsal on Wednesday, 4/19 from 2-3:30 - If you're planning to play a small group for spectrum, you must play for Mr. Wiley this week. We have an exciting week ahead and we will be discussing some important information regarding the Music in Our Schools Honor Band!
-This week is MIOS, we have 20 students participating in the honor band. Due to this, there will be NO Symphonic Band rehearsal on Tuesday and NO Jazz Band rehearsal on Thursday. -The honor band rehearsal schedule is as follows; Tuesday April 11th: 4:00pm - 7:00pm at SLW Centennial High School (Students will provide their own transportation to this rehearsal Wednesday April 12th: 9:00am - 3:00pm at the Fenn Center in Fort Pierce (We will be taking a bus to and from this rehearsal - Students should bring money for lunch) Thursday April 13th (Concert): 5:30pm - 9:30pm at Fenn Center (Students will provide their own transportation) Please see Mr. Wiley if you have questions regarding MIOS -Color guard will practice on Tuesday and Thursday after school. -Please keep up to date with your band trip payments, and remember that all permission forms are due by May 5th! These must be turned in in order to go on the trip. -Band Banquet invitations are in the band room. These were handed out in class on Friday and will be handed out on Monday as well. RSVP's are due by May 5th. -Leadership applications are due on April 21st! Please remember that applications WILL NOT be accepted after this deadline. -Mr. Wiley will begin hearing potential spectrum groups next week. Please have your music prepared if you are hopeful to perform in the show. Congratulations to the students who participated at State Solo and Ensemble this weekend! You all represented your school and program very well! All together, we had 15 superior ratings and 1 excellent rating!
As we look forward, there are a lot of exciting events in our future! Spectrum, the band trip, band banquet and leadership interviews/auditions! This week we will begin after school rehearsals for spectrum. Please follow the band calendar! -Symphonic band will begin after school rehearsals this week! We will be meeting on Tuesdays from 2-4pm! -Jazz band will also begin rehearsals this week. Jazz will meet on Thursdays from 2-4pm. -The first Drum Major help session will be Monday, 4/3, from 2-3pm! All students interested in learning more about conducting and what it takes to be a drum major are welcome! You don't HAVE to be going for drum major to attend. -Color guard will be going down to 1 after school practice a week for a while. Details will be given in class this week. -The MIOS Honor Band Schedule is as follows: 4/11/17 - Reading session Rehearsal - SLW Centennial HS Auditorium - 4:00pm - 7:00pm 4/12/17 - Full day rehearsal - Fenn Center (transportation provided) - 9:00am - 3:00pm 4/13/17 - Concert - Fenn Center - Call time is 5:30pm in concert uniform. -Make sure you are up to date on your Busch Garden's payments!
