Hello band family! I’d like to say thanks again to all parents, staff, and students for your continued efforts when things get tough for us! Having a whole marching show of this caliber on the field before October is no easy task. Moving forward the number 1 difference maker is going to be individual practice and review. The sharper you are with the music and movements, the cleaner and more efficient our remaining rehearsals will be!
- There is potential for some pretty tricky weather this week. As of now, hurricane Ian is projected to miss us to the northwest, however anything can change with these storms. If there are any modifications to the schedule due to this storm, I will let you know promptly. - As of now, we will have marching practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week. We will be extending marching rehearsals to end at 5:30 for the next few weeks, and possibly remainder of the season. - This Friday we will have our first away game if the season at Jensen beach high school!! We will be taking buses to this game from pslhs, and our call time will be 4:30pm. Students may stay after school on Friday. A detailed schedule will be published tomorrow! - Please be reminded that pass off #3 was due on Saturday, 9/24. If you aren’t caught up with your pass offs, it is crucial to our success for you to make the effort to get caught up. If you need help, please ask! - For those that have asked, our band calendar can be found at pslhsband.com/calendar. All events between now and the end of December are imputed. January to March will be added in the next week. - In the near future we will have: crown jewel on October 8th (we perform at 4pm, but students will be obligated from 10:30am-10pm for crown jewel), football games on 9/30, 10/7, 10/21, 10/28, and 11/4 (possibly more if we make the play offs), marching showcase on 10/22, and marching band MPA on 10/29. After mpa, our schedule gets much much lighter. - We are in need of any snack and water donations that could be provided! Thanks for all who have donated, the kids certainly appreciate it! Let’s keep up the good work band, and if you have any questions, please let me know!

I promise you it will be SO worth it at the end of the season. Practice, focus, but most importantly remember to have fun and love what you’re doing, because it’s so special to make these kinds of memories with your friends! Let’s do this band!! - Check the calendar for all of our completions, rehearsals, and games that are quickly approaching. Please reach out and let me know if you have any questions. - We will have normally scheduled marching rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-5:00pm! Please be in time, with all materials, including your water jugs. If you have not, you should make arrangements to purchase red and white half gallon water jug from Walmart or online. - We also will be having a continuity rehearsal on Friday from 6-9pm this Friday! All students should wear a mostly plain white shirt to this rehearsal so we can see formations vividly on the field. students can stay after school until this rehearsal. - This Friday is also the due date for pass off #2! This goes through the ballad (measure 177). Please pass off with either a section leader, executive leadership member, or Mr. Wiley to earn your test credit. - Next Friday, 9/16, we will be having our MINI CAMP rehearsal!! This goes from 2:30pm- 9:00pm! We will have a dinner break (provided by the band) as well as a special surprise treat :) we are going to plan to get a TON of work done, so make sure you are there! - Please remember our attendance policy! Each student is allowed 2 unexcused absences for the duration of the season. These will go as a 0 in the grade book. If a 3rd is used, the student will br pulled from whatever the next performance is. Students get UNLIMITED excused absences, but these need to be cleared with Mr. Wiley before the rehearsal. Band is an activity with no substitutes! Each member is vastly important, you do not have a back up :) - Check out our band calendar on this website for the remainder of marching season dates! - Thank you so much for all you have done, especially to all our awesome band parents who continue to go out of their way to ensure these students are successful! Please reach out with any questions! |
